Large Rate Display (LRD)
Developed in conjunction with Merlin Gerin, R.O.V. has a unique tool for assisting nuclear plant workers with radiological dose reduction. Keeping with the ALARA concept, and satisfying employee safety concerns, the innovative Large Rate Display (LRD) reinforces dose minimization goals by displaying general area radiation dose rate.
The standard R.O.V. LRD is a portable unit featuring 4 inch tall LED numbers. For areas with retransitionaled space, a smaller 2 inch model is available.
R.O.V. incorporates an MGP Instruments radiation detector as the dose rate sensor that enables the LRDs to display dose rates from <1 mrem/hr to 9,999 mrem/hr. Strategic placement of the LRD in a radiation protection area can highlight low dose waiting areas as well as warn workers to minimize time spent in higher dose rate areas.
As these units update themselves automatically, they respond immediately to changing radiological conditions, offering a distinct advantage over dose rate placards or periodically updated surveys commonly used in nuclear plants.
Features:
Tri-color LED display, programmable to display low dose rates in green, moderate dose rates in amber, and high dose rates in red.
Threshold values are user-adjustable via software and or wireless remote control, allowing customers to define which dose rates will trigger a change in color.
An optional alarm box incorporates a warning light and horn set to trigger at the desired set point.
